Women’s Health PAC at the NYSE: A Night of Impact, Advocacy, and Action with Kate Ryder, CEO + Founder - Maven Clinic & Tamsen Fadal, Executive Producer, The M Factor
On February 3rd, the bipartisan Women’s Health PAC hosted a landmark event at the New York Stock Exchange, bringing together over 150+ leaders, advocates, and changemakers to push for systemic reforms in women’s healthcare. The evening was a powerful demonstration of the momentum behind this movement, highlighting the urgent need for increased investment, policy change, and financial sustainability in women’s health.
Celebrating Women’s Health PAC’s Impact
The night opened with Tara Dziedzic, Head of US Listings at NYSE who welcomed the attendees and underscored the importance of closing the information and funding gaps in women’s health. She introduced Jodi Neuhauser and Candace McDonald, two of the driving forces behind the Women’s Health PAC, who shared the organization’s incredible impact over the past eight months:
Raised over $250,000 to support bipartisan candidates advocating for women’s health
Hosted seven events across the country, mobilizing a network of over 3,000 supporters
Supported 16 candidates in the 2024 election, with 11 elected, including one nominated as the incoming Secretary of Labor
Grew the Founder Circle to 58 members, leading the charge for political influence in women’s health
The PAC has proven that women’s health is not just a social issue—it’s a political and economic imperative. However, the numbers are stark: while healthcare lobbying as a whole sees billions in spending, women’s health organizations collectively spend only a fraction of that—less than $2 million annually. Comparatively, pharmaceutical companies alone spend over $350 million per year on lobbying efforts. This gap underscores the need for a financially sustainable, consumer-focused organization for women’s health that will generate a $900 million war chest dedicated to advancing women’s health policy and funding the candidates who will fight for these issues.
The Power of Storytelling and Investment in Women’s Health
The evening’s panel, moderated by Anu Duggal, founding partner of the Female Founders Fund, featured an esteemed group of speakers leading the charge in the industry:
Kate Ryder, Founder and CEO of Maven Clinic
Tamsen Fadal, Emmy-winning journalist and co-executive producer of The M Factor
Dr. Somi Javaid, a renowned OB/GYN and advocate for healthcare innovation
Breaking the Silence on Menopause
Tamsen Fadal spoke passionately about her documentary The M Factor, which is breaking long-held taboos around menopause. She highlighted how storytelling is a powerful tool in shifting societal perceptions and mobilizing support for workplace menopause benefits. The discussion illuminated the growing demand for employer-sponsored menopause support, with companies recognizing its importance in talent retention and workforce well-being.
Menopause Benefits: A Rapidly Growing Market
Kate Ryder shared key insights from Maven Clinic’s pioneering work in menopause benefits, emphasizing the rapid adoption by American employers. She pointed out that while menopause was historically overlooked in workplace policies, it is now one of the fastest-growing categories in employer-sponsored health benefits. However, gaps remain—standardized HRT guidelines and better access to menopause care are critical next steps in advancing care for women.
The Systemic Failures in Women’s Healthcare
Dr. Somi Javaid delivered a sobering yet inspiring speech on the critical failures in women’s healthcare, pinpointing five key areas that require urgent attention:
Lack of Data: Women’s health research remains severely underfunded.
Time: Women face disproportionately long waits and diagnostic delays.
Lack of Female Decision-Makers: Policy and funding decisions are still predominantly made by men.
Insufficient Funding: Women’s health conditions receive a fraction of the funding compared to other sectors.
Gaps in Education: Medical training on women’s health remains inadequate, particularly in menopause care.
Dr. Javaid’s remarks reinforced that transforming women’s healthcare requires a multi-pronged approach, addressing everything from medical education to reimbursement structures.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Women’s Health Advocacy
The event concluded with Jodi Neuhauser and Candace McDonald outlining the PAC’s bold goals for 2025, including the launch of the first-ever Women’s Health Reimbursement Summit. This initiative will bring together policymakers, payers, clinicians, and industry leaders to tackle one of the most pressing issues in women’s healthcare: reimbursement reform and will be held on March 11th in NYC.
Women control 80% of healthcare decisions and hold $30 trillion of the nation’s wealth—yet the current system continues to undervalue their health needs. The PAC’s vision is clear: women’s health must be financially and politically prioritized. To truly shift the landscape, the PAC is embarking on a ambitious path to build a $900 million war chest for women’s health, ensuring that women’s health has the financial power to compete in policy discussions and drive meaningful reform.
