A Personal Invite: What I’ve Been Building for the Past Year

Hello to the In Women’s Health Community,

Over the years, I’ve shared jobs, insights, opportunities, and hard-earned lessons with thousands of you. I’ve watched you show up for one another on Slack, on social, and in the chat box of more Zoom calls than any of us can count. This community has become one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Most of what you hear from me is focused on accelerating your career in women’s health. But every once in a while, something comes along that sits just outside that lane — something connected, something bigger. Today is one of those moments.

Many of you know that over the past year, I’ve been quietly building something in the background. Many of you have even helped shape it, for which I’m incredibly grateful. 

Today, I’m excited to finally introduce you to 51&.

Over the next three weeks, I’ll share more about what 51& is, what we’re building, and why this moment matters. And then we’ll go back to our regularly scheduled programming.

So what’s the difference between In Women’s Health and 51&? 

In Women’s Health is the leading career and education platform in women’s health. Everything we do here is focused on helping you grow - actionable learning, real community, and opportunities that support your career path in this field.

51& is different.

51& is a national membership organization that brings together dollars, community, and civic action to make healthcare work for every woman. Think of it as doing for women’s health what AARP did for seniors — pooling capital and influence to change the system itself.

These are separate entities. Separate brands with separate missions.
My hope is that many of you will find yourselves connected to both.

In Women’s Health helps you build your career.
51& helps us understand, and change, the system you’re building it in.

Both matter.
Both are needed.
They just play very different roles.

And because many of you work inside this system every day, you already know how much is broken. We will not see real change without coordinated, collective action. The same way I see you lifting each other up in this community — that’s the energy 51& needs to scale.
